Politic’s Greasy Pole, July 2022 - II

Treating truth with wantonness

is like playing lip-service to the rules of sport

choosing those which impact less,

compliance to all a matter of last resort.

Does a regular audience with the Queen

guarantee veneration of esteemed

colleagues? For friends to deny what they had seen?

To sacrifice all once deemed

inviolable? Is that the opiate which led you to betray

honesty the way you did, to translate

it to another tongue, deflect criticism away

and turn dishonesty to a Department of State?

If so, what would be the Minister’s brief? Perhaps to sort

the chaff from the wheat in another redacted report.
