The Shakespearian Lead

Backstage he summons his muse

silently mouthing the verse

he soon will use

to enslave us. His method - to rehearse

and then deliver - has no compare;

his interpretation of Elizabethan gems

a subtle talent all too rare.

Yet this borrowed stratagem

leaves him tortured by an urge to write

constantly unsure how fair

it is (enter stage right

spot-lit in the charged air

he fuels so well)

that their double-act is a billing guaranteed to sell.
