Over the years I have worked on a number of writing collaborations, most of them informal. The two most qualitatively successful were: with another poet, a long chain of Haiku ‘in conversation’, the final product ending up being both published and performed; and a fictional back-and-forth that perhaps had the making of a novella - but sadly Gill, my writing buddy, succumbed far too young to cancer.

It occurs to me that with this Substack site I have a great platform to both encourage and publish collaborative work between my premium subscribers. I don’t have to be involved; think of me as a dating agency - and one who’s happy to share the products of your unions!

The idea is simple. Just comment on this post if you are interested in collaborating with someone (or more than one person), and whether that would be in poetry or prose. Chances are that you won’t know the person(s) concerned - which only gives the exercise added frisson! I will then see if I can hook you up (via email), and you can take it from there. Once your baby’s born, let me have it and I’ll post it here (subject to the usual caveats over content, length etc…)
